The “DS” platform Ram 1500 (known as the Ram 1500 Classic now) has gotten a stay of execution. Since that time, a multitude of things has changed.

Warren Truck has been producing Dodge and Ram pickups since 1938 (and currently builds the 20 Classic.) At that time the plan was to discontinue the Ram 1500 Classic around the summer of 2019 and the all-new Ram Heavy Duty was to move to that plant after a thorough re-tooling for the 2020 model year. On January 11th, 2018, the late Sergio Marchionne (former CEO of FCA) had stated that Ram Heavy Duty production would move from Saltillo, Mexico to the Warren Truck Plant in Warren, Michigan. That article was based on some information we had at the time and some speculation on our part, we are now sure that a 5th generation Regular Cab will not happen for 2020. Last year, wrote this article regarding the Regular Cabs stating we expected to see them to show up for the 2020 model year. So far there has been no official word or confirmation from Ram Truck about a Regular Cab or 6’4 RamBox option coming to the new Ram 1500. Today, we are going to answer those questions to the best of our ability with what we know so far. The two questions that our sister site gets asked the most are when we can expect to see the 5th generation Ram Regular Cab or the RamBox available on the 6’4 box.
